Cove Point needs a real Environmental Impact Statement to identify its harms to the planet, and stop fracked gas exports.

Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) often gets very lax, often because of funding or some vested interest group. FERC cut corners by preparing a skimpy Environmental Assessment (EA) instead of a more detailed Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) for the Cove Point Gas Export facility in Calvert County. This deficient document concluded that operating the facility would result in no significant impacts to the environment. That’s just fracking ridiculous, and even the EPA has questioned FERC’s review process.*
